What's New With The Vagrancy?
What's New With Sabina?

After having departed as one of the Co-Artistic Directors of The Vagrancy, I am going to teach English in South Korea in order expand myself as an international educator.  I will be place in Sanbon, 30 minutes south of Seoul.  My departure date is mid-February, and I bubble with excitement as to what this part of my life will bring my way in the next year.

If you would like to receive postcards from me, email me at sabina.ptasznik@gmail.com.

Last good thing I ate:  Dutch unsweetened hot chocolate from Gelson's Market.

I moved to Los Angeles five years ago and am now working in Los Angeles as a freelance director.  My personal history begins in Poland, where I was born.  Later I moved to Germany, Michigan, Pennsylvania, California, Pennsylvania, New York, and now I am back in California again, pursuing theatre directing.

In my moving about, I have found my passion to be new play development, and I tend to work with the playwrights just about as much as I do with actors.  In defining what kind of theatre it is I want to do, the answer is simply "good theatre."  And that, in my opinion, can be very difficult.  Above all, I am a storyteller, and my work tends to be very story-driven as I am a stickler for real things.

I like the following playwrights:

John Osbourne

Anton Chekhov

Romulus Linney

Tommy Smith

Sarah Kane

Maxim Gorki

Caryl Churchill

Maria Irene Fornes
